Sensory Sundays are BACK!

If you’re not familiar with Sensory Sundays, they’re an event that we used to run as a studio the first Sunday of the month before COVID. Sensory Sundays were dedicated to providing specialized hair services for children with sensory and special needs in the Washington, D.C. area. Although we have still provided haircuts to guests with sensory and special needs since COVID, we had to make some adjustments to the way we were able to offer this service. Ever since we have been slowly but surely working towards re-launching this event in it’s full effect.

Sensory Sundays will now be occurring every 6 weeks, from 10am-12pm. The 2024 schedule is:

• January 14th

• February 25th

• April 7th

• May 19th

• June 30th

• August 11th

• September 22nd

• November 3rd

• December 15th

Our mission with Sensory Sundays is to create a safe and accepting environment where children can receive quality hair care. We work closely with families to build trust and ensure a positive experience by combining the skills of our professional stylists with the knowledge of trained educators.

Our Sensory haircut services are designed to provide a safe, fun, and successful experience for your child and family. While achieving a full haircut may take multiple visits, we prioritize building trust and creating a positive environment. We strongly discourage physical restraint, as it can lead to trauma and hinder successful outcomes.

That is why we’re so excited to be able to offer this event on a day dedicated solely to this purpose. With fewer stylists in the building, and no over-head music, the general chaos of the salon environment is dramatically changed to provide a more sensory-friendly visit.

All of our Sensory Haircut stylists have worked with sensory and special needs children on multiple occasions and have a lot of experience assisting this population.

Please note that all appointments are charged to cover the time spent getting to know your child. Sensory Appointments are not available to book online, if you’re new to Sensory Sundays we do ask that you fill out this brief form to help us better serve your child’s specific needs.
